Who and where is Hebert Hoover from?

Herbert was born in West Branch Iowa on August 10th 1874. He was born into a Quaker family, which was the  people that had helped settle the town, and their principles of honesty, hard work, simplicity, and generosity guided Herbert through his life and service to the nation. He was the second child to Jesse and Hulda Hoover. His father was a blacksmith but then sold his backsmith shop it and opened a farm implent business. Herbert's father died of a heart attack in 1880. His mother Hulda was able to save the money from her husbands insurance to give the kids an education. Four years after the death of Herbert's father his mother Hulda died from typhiod fever that started as a cold and turned into pnemonia. Herbert and his simblings were sent to live with his fathers brother and his wife.  When he was 11 they sent him to Newberg, Oregon so he could live with his mothers brother and his family.

Herbert attened the Friends Pacific Acadamey where his uncle Dr. Henry John Minthorn was the superintendent.  The family moved to Salem in 1888 and Herbert worked in the office of his uncles Oregon Land Company. Herbert started his first class at Stanford University in 1891. He graduated in 1895 with a degree of geologly, and went to work in the California gold mines. In 1897 he joined this British firm and he worked as a mining engineer in Australia.

Herbert married Hulda Lou Henry, on Feburary 10, 1899 which he had met her at Stanford while he was getting his degree in geology. They had much in common which was they both were from Iowa, loved the outdoors, had a sense of adventure, and they both got college degrees in geology. Right after they got married they moved to China. While they were still living there they survived the Boxer Rebellion an uprising Chinese nationlists. Once that ended he started working for Bewick Moreing and company which was in 1901. Hoover was known as "doctor of sick mines" and he went around the world many times, accompanied by his wife Lou and his two sons Herbert Jr. and Allan. Herbert Jr. was born in 1903, and Allan was born in 1907. The year after Allan was born Herbert retired for the company.

    * During World War 1 Herbert did some humanitarin work and also worked for the Service of Commerce which made people highly respect him from that point on. Soon after that he ran for president and he easily won in 1928. It came to show that people did really have respect for him. During the first part of his presidency his administration was overshadowed with and economic disaster. When the stock market collapsed on October 29, 1929, it triggered depression which made Hoover's ideals conflict.  When he was the president he did more than any previous president did to try and relieve the widespread distress, trying to form an anti-depression New Deal measure.
